Finally, a response on this forum that is actually useful. Thank you for doing what Microsoft is apparently unable to do and providing some useful context to this obvious BUG that was introduced by yet another rushed, ill-tested (jk, we all know Microsoft testing is done via the users themselves), Windows 10 update.
Missing search tab - File Explorer (Windows 10 - 1909)
Hello,
I have installed the latest update of windows 10 (home and pro).
Windows 10 Pro - 1909 (v. 18363.476)
Now the "search" tab is no longer in the folders and I can't clear the search history either. Where is this tab?!

2021-05-07T19:02:42+00:00 Extremely helpful. Many, many thanks.
Just a note about another apparent bug: I use US dates so I searched for
*.mp4 datemodified:>=2/1/2021
to get files modified from February on. I was therefore surprised to see a file dated 1/16/21. Then I tried some other searches. Yes , my computer thinks the dates I enter in the search box are DD/MM/YYYY and not MM/DD/YYYY, but the latter is the format in the results.
Counter-intuitive to the 5th degree.

2021-05-08T12:32:46+00:00 Thanks for starting this - I had the same problem - I dislike this OS more every waking day.
Especially the obnoxious updates they force on me for my computer which they think they
freaking own. There's are reason why I and major companies wait for software maturity
before updating - but these obnoxious people force the bleeding edge updates on us.
The changed the interface 1 too many times on Office 365 on the last one just enough
to cause me to change to an alternative - without their obnoxious default cloud storage too.

I have not used the advanced search feature in Windows for a long time, ( read, "since I was running windows 7" )
After a lot of excellent yet useless information from a lot of websites ( rendered useless to the reader by virtue of the simple error of having left out the most important first step of the how-to search process) I discovered the following very basic missing step by trial and error:
All you need to do is open File Explorer and enter any word, (or a text string of any sort) into the search window in the top right search pane and hit "enter" or click the right-side arrow. Presto, the advanced search tab appears at the top of the window, exactly where it should be, and with date search etc. available. Typical of Microsoft to take something that once was, and still should be extremely simple, and allow the codies to "improve" it into something decidedly not-simple and ludicrously hard to figure out, until you figure it out yourself the hard way as a user. A bit of a catch-22 I would say. When you change something this basic, and do not document it to the user base, it is pretty obvious by the huge number of posts on a multitude of websites that a pretty big gaffe was made by Microsoft, and still not fixed. I imagine it just seems obvious, but evidently it is not. Hopefully they fix this in an update at some point. Very time-expensive for a lot of folks, as we can see by the huge number of posts ......... I hope my own post here helps someone else avoid the time-waste.
