Hello,

I have installed the latest update of windows 10 (home and pro).

Windows 10 Pro - 1909 (v. 18363.476)

Now the "search" tab is no longer in the folders and I can't clear the search history either. Where is this tab?!

The search tab becomes available when you use Ctrl-F (for Find). But the search field should be functional without that keystroke.

why did Windows remove this tab? so dumb!

Edit: It only now shows up when you actually enter a search. At that point you have the option of removing your history.

I am writing on March 21, 2020. I have the same issue. No fixes suggested have any effect.

I do not remember when I lost the Search Tab but it has been within recent weeks, this year certainly.

I did this, I typed in the word "file" in the search box in the top right corner and the "search" tab appeared.  Then I just erased the word file and hit enter.  The "search" tab remained.  Then I was able to sort on file size on my entire C drive which is what I was trying to do.  I like use the search function to locate "gigantic" files and get rid of what I can to free up space.  Thanks for the tip!!!

I have the same problem in W10 v1909 OS build 18363.693.

When you simply click the "Search Bar" in File Explorer the Search Tools Tab does NOT appear as it is supposed.

However, if you execute a search then it does.  So, the workaround is to do your search and then you'll see the Search Tools tab and can proceed from there.  This appears to be a bug, though, and it would be more convenient to have the Search Tools tab appear upon simply clicking the Search bar.  For example, if you want to search all files created "Today."
