Windows 10 extremely slow after updating to 1909

I have been using a PC with 800 M Hz AMD Phennom II processor and 8 GB RAM running 64-bit Windows 10 for several years. It has been running great until recently it became extremely slow after Windows update since November.  I noticed that the CPU and Memory usage changed from about 50% to close to 100%. The performance resumed after I restored the system to the earlier version. Today was the 3rd time I did this and I checked the current stable version is 1903, so I guess the problem was caused by the new update 1909. I am afraid it will become slow again after the automatic update. 

Please advise if there is a way to allow me continue to use this computer.

Hello,

Please try these suggestions:

Run System File Checker scan:

  1. Search for 'command prompt' using Cortana or Windows Search.
  2. From results, right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
  3. Type sfc /scannow command and press Enter key.
  4. Let the command complete and then reboot the machine.

If that doesn't works, try these steps:

  1. Search for 'windows powershell' using Cortana or Windows Search.
  2. From results, choose Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
  3. Then type/paste following and press Enter key:

Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth

  1. Let the command complete, restart your system then.

If problem continues, perform clean boot and remove third-party programs slowing down your system:

Also, try updating to Version 2004 or latest version and see if it helps.

    Youll not get any acknowledgement from Microsoft. 

    If you can, look into a flavour of Linux that suits your needs. Believe me the the transition is not that difficult.

    If you have no choice but to continue with Windows then revert back to 1903 and block updates for 35 days. Unfortunately you will have to do this every 35 days.

    Hello,

    Today MS 1909 update for Windows 10 Professional was installed.  Our computer now does not work, that is, it is slowed down to where we cannot use the internet.  I need a recommendation to fix this issue, please.

    My plan will be to do a bios update. Haven't done one in a while. And I will reseat my liquid cooler with some fresh thermal paste...just in case. I already do a system clean about every week.

    My final resolution will be to do a re-install of win10.

    If this was a deliberate strategy of MS that is SO unethical. It was confirmed apple engineered failure on their iPhone.
