Can't update realtek bluetooth driver for 1903 windows 10 update

So I got the message yesterday saying I couldn't update my computer to Windows 1903 due to an outdated Realtek Bluetooth driver. I followed the steps up till the point where I select update drivers in the dropdown menu. It gave me the message "Windows has determined that you are already running the best driver".

I don't even have a Realtek Bluetooth device. Just some Edimax Bluetooth / wifi adapter. It's an N150 EQ-7611ULB.

I've tried to uninstall the Bluetooth driver in hopes that that would solve something. It still gives me the same messages. I'll try reinstalling the driver they give off their website, but it hasn't been updated since early 2018, so I doubt it'll actually solve anything.

i have the same problem like you and after a lot of searching and waiting i guess found the solution.

Still didn't have the time to try it out, but will do it tonight.

Here:

Ran into this problem also, complaining about old Realtek BT devices but none installed.

First check for non-present devices in Device Manager by enabling hidden items under View/Show hidden devices. If you still don't see your bluetooth device listed, you may have an orphaned driver file like I did.

Check your C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder for the file RtkBtfilter.sys. An old Realtek bluetooth driver, not being used but detected by the updater.

Deleted the file and update was able to continue.

There was nothing logged in the CompatData().xml files as suggested to check here:

(I guess because it wasn't installed nor was there any inf file for it.)

Hi Jack. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Volunteer Guardian Moderator here to help you.

That's the Windows Upgrade Advisor which is frequently wrong. I would manually install the latest version by installing the Media Creation Tool from this link http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m... choosing Download Tool Now, install the tool, open it and choose Upgrade this PC Now. This will save your files and apps while bringing you up to the latest version by the most stable method. It will also bring all of your Updates current and solve most problems since it reinstalls Windows.

Update your drivers and BIOS/UEFI firmware from PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker. Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

Updating drivers from the Device Manager or Windows Update is rarely enough. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is keep the latest manufacturer's drivers installed from their Support Downloads web page.

If after install a driver is not working, I will help you try to find newer drivers using Hardware ID or other methods here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki.... You can also try all previous drivers by going into Device Manager > Device > Update Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick to try all drivers in list working backward.

BTW uninstalling a driver only reinstalls it at restart. To disable a driver choose Disable. However this is ignored during most Version Upgrade reinstalls, although if you don't use the device you can disable it afterwards to avoid any error messages. But 90% of the time we can find a driver, especially for one as new as having a 2018 driver.

I just tried this and ran into the same message. Closing the message down brought the installer back up but gave me the error code 0xc1900209

I tried updating using the update tool you provided. I'm not going to update the BIOS as 9 times out of 10 when I do that when a system is functioning perfectly fine, it ends up bricking it. Other than the BIOS, I should be running the latest and greatest drivers.

And I rated your comment after trying your instructions out of habit. As a windows 10 user who's constantly spammed with feedback questionnaires from you it becomes a habit to input some garbage to continue with whatever I was doing. I apologize.
