Forza Horizon 4 won't launch

Hello, I actually tried this, let me go through with what happened.

I uninstalled FH4, used Everything Search and deleted every single possible Forza folder I could find.

Then I deleted every single registry of Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Horizon 4 Demo I could, there were few that I wasn't able to delete.

Then I tried reinstalling the game and it stopped at 12GB showing an error that I'm missing some registry keys and unable to install further.

Then I had to repair my system, took an hour then reinstalled the game without a problem and now it works even tho I haven't refunded the add-ons.

I will try to now download the add-ons and see if it will work, if it doesn't then I'm repeating this and refunding the add-ons.

Thank you for posting this. If this really fixed the root cause of the issue, it makes me think an official solution is a ways out since it could be a Windows update type of issue.

Hi, yes I agree it's not the agent fault,in fact 3 of them were very helpful, one stayed with my problem for hours after he should have finished work, I said you must be finished work by now and he said he wouldn't leave a customer if he couldn't fix it I said I would contact again and he should finish. The last one I used even gave me her link to continue later. They have set answers and procedures they have to do. I blame Microsoft game developers for not testing on all the formats. Somebody I know has just got the game freeze and no longer working on Xbox using a disc. Def a bigger problem that I thought.

I really hope this works for someone else too so we might finally find a good solution for this. If you're not sure you can always make a backup of the registery and to be honest the likeliness that you break your whole system is very small since you only delete Forza related keys. I just want to point out that I didn't know what I was doing and I don't want to be responsible for other people breaking functionality of their systems ;)

I've told the support about this thread so maybe they keep an eye on it. I will wait to tell them it's fixed for me until they update me with the results of the escalated ticket they made for me.

So IF you're gonna try it I guess you know how it works, but let me explain very quickly:

press win + R and type Regedit. Click OK.

To back up the complete Registry, select Computer and right-click on it. Now select Export. Give the file a name and set a location where you want it saved. This will take a minute.

Then just press ctrl + f and type 'forza' after 'Find what:'. Click Find Next. This will take a few seconds and then point you to the first key containing forza. Now you can start deleting stuff. Once you've deleted the key you just repeat the process of pressing ctrl + f and clicking Find Next.

Thanks for your kind words, but I don't think it'd be a great idea if I worked for Microsoft ;) Customer support isn't bad. They can't possibly know the solution to every possible issue with Windows. The important thing with the support is just that they should recognize when they are working on an issue that requires some more expertise or research so they can send it to their engineers. This is not just a problem with Microsoft's support, but with all support departments. I work in customer support too (in a different field), but the actual hard thing is to recognize when you are dealing with a non-standard issue so you can take the right steps to escalate the issue to the right person. Ignoring the customer and doing the same thing that your own colleagues suggested over and over is not going to solve the problem ever. It's frustrating to know, but sometimes all the support agent wants is to be done with this conversation and go to the next conversation. It's challenging to be a customer agent, but it's also quite challenging to get the customer agent to work together with you on a solution. Anyway I hope there will be a fix very soon so you all can play too!

Welldone!! I like how you took such a big risk with your system. The trouble with my pc I have so much that I cannot afford to risk it yet. Have you informed Microsoft? they might learn something from you. Maybe you should work for them as they do not seem to have a clue. I think I will wait to see if others try your formula. Maybe if I get drunk I will pluck up the courage to try it. I also cannot do a system restore at moment so I might get up the creek.
