AirPods paired but won't connect.

AirPods paired but won' connect, I tried:

-Deleting the drivers and updating them.

-Putting Bluetooth Support Service to Automatic and restarting

-Troubleshooted everything

-Tried every 'connect' button on every window I know such as:

-Sound control panel, Devices and Printers, Bluetooth settings, Action Center (Connect button)

And still doesn't connect

-Scanned for hardware changes

It shows up on my Playback settings as disconnected (AirPods Stereo and AirPods Hands Free AG). Everytime I hit the connect button nothing happens.

Found solution on another forum:

Regedit > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class{e0cbf06c-cd8b-4647-bb8a-263b43f0f974}\0000 > New "String Value" > Name it PnPCapabilities and set value 24.

Restart your computer. Viola!

I think it sets the Bluetooth device to never go into sleep mode, so may affect your battery life.

I found that it woks if after pairing your AirPods, you open the Sound Control Panel and set the Default Device to Headphones - AirPods Pro Stereo. The AirBuds will then automatically connect when they are out of the charging case.

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I appreciate the efforts taken by you in resolving this issue. I understand that you are able to pair the AirPods but unable to connect them to the computer.

One of the things that you can try is to remove the hidden drivers for Bluetooth and then pair the AirPods once again.

Press Windows key + R. This will open Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.
In Run dialog box, type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.
Click on View and click on Show hidden devices.
Go to Bluetooth and expand it.
Now uninstall all the greyed out devices.
Restart the PC.

Once you restart the PC, try pairing the Bluetooth device and see if you are able to get connect them. You can refer the article Connect a Bluetooth device in Windows

This was perfect to resolve my issues. My device is a Windows 10 Dell Latitude E5440 Laptop.

After the instructed reboot, the Airpods were now indicating connected for voice and music however, they did not appear in the Human interface devices.

This did resolve my issue.

Hello: I was able to get all the way in regedit to this point:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class{e0cbf06c-cd8b-4647-bb8a-263b43f0f974}\0000.

But couldn't get to the rest of it:

Unfortunately, I'm on a work computer so my system settings prevent me from adding "New String Values".

But I *think* this is what you do:

Once you've entered the "0000"folder (where it has Default, DriverDate, etc. listed), right click within the white background beneath said list & select 'New'.

Click 'String Value'.

Name it accordingly: PnPCapabilities

Once you've named it, right click it & select 'Modify'.

Enter '24' into the value data field.
Thank you so much. I tried everything and was getting so frustrated. This worked perfectly. Restarted after making the changes. Follow these steps.
