New Windows 10 update making everything slow

So apparently Windows decided to automatically update itself while I was away from the PC. When I’m trying to log in, it takes ridiculously long (around 30-40 minutes). So I tried restarting, but startup is SUPER slow to the point that I’m stuck waiting for a black screen of death. Why is my PC slow after this recent update?

    Hi Richard,

I have a relative that used to conduct extensive Beta Testing directly for Microsoft.

My understanding was /is that Microsoft release different versions of WIN for each Country.

Going Back at least 6 years ago he also found that there was a difference in performance between WIN programs.

You are correct their AV is totally useless "Like Tits on a Bull"

I DO NOT rely or trust MS Antivirus.

However again I am happy to say that my system has run flawlessly since FEB this year.

I run Trendmicro System Pro Antivirus and for the last 10 years I have not had a virus come onto my system.

Trend has delivered what they promise. As for Norton they used to leave a "Back Door" open so that they could purposely infiltrate a known virus for remote testing.

I caught them out using VET AV which was free.

Since then I am using Trendmicro.

AS a By I have a separate SSD with my original WINDOWS 10 on it, should the situation arise that my system plays up I can just do a copy (clean install) from the SSD to my M2 without too much Drama. Not have had to use it yet....?

ALL my DATA is stored on a removable SSD HD that I can take with me wherever I go so my business data is always safe.

I have a Lenovo i7 Laptop for when I travel, that has the same version of WIN10 loaded and to date is also performing very well.

Happy Computing, here in AUS we are in lockdown due to Covid.

    Cheers all the best

Yes, my friend I also am running a M.2, in my case I’m running a M.2 Samsung 950 Pro, I will give credit to where credit is due.

Lately in the Windows 10 Pro version, that’s what I’m running. The update has been excellent and I too am very happy with the recent updates.

For a while there, I frowned every time an update was released. Because for me it all to often meant that I was going to have to wipe my primary drive clean, after testing the update and it proved to slow my system way down, that it was so bad that I wasn’t left with any other option other then to wipe my M.2 Samsung 950 Pro SSD.

In one update, it literally took my system 30 minutes before I was allowed to sign into my desktop.

In those situations I tried everything, backing the update out, literally rolling it back, all to no avail.

This happened to me 3 times in a roll, to the point that I gave up trying to completely restore my rig.

It was faster to wipe the machine and restore it, over troubleshooting the PC and trying to repair it.

Now, the last 2 or 3 updates have been great, after the updates, I’ve been happy and have been successful at logging right in and I also hope that I continue being happy with Microsoft Updates.

So again, my hat off to Microsoft, but now if they can keep ahead of these hackers that have been relentless lately. It’s a shame, that there is such dark activity on the web. You would think that the major Corporation would have the highest security, but for me by experience I’ve found out other wise.

My cell phone company was hacked and as a result of the major hack, all my personal information is out there for the second time. The first time was with 1 of the 3 major credit reporting bureau.

Not only does Microsoft have to get their updates flawless, but the security for all systems across the USA must be secured.

The built in virus software in Windows is weak, I know from testing Microsoft System myself. I have purposely loaded or tried to install a program that had a virus in the thumb drive/program into a test machine that was running only the Windows 10 built in virus program and it failed to catch the virus loaded onto a thumb drive.

I then loaded McAfee, then Norton in Indepent test and both Virus Programs caught the file before I even had the chance to install the program. The McAfee & Norton Virus Programs caught the virus on the Thumb Drive the moment I inserted the drive into the USB Port.

So, common Microsoft, get it together!!

Yes My Friend you may be correct in saying "Use Apple Instead" perhaps you have a vested interest in Apple and that is no shame.

Since I rebuilt my PC in Feb This year and using an M2 Drive , I have not experienced any issues or concerns.

My PC boots in approx 10-15 seconds flat.

So at this point I am still happy, but, I have been unhappy for many years putting up with MS Win10 early editions.

Lets Hope I still stay happy........................Hey.

Windows is trying its beta testing on end users without any concern about how they suffer.

Simple solution next time use apple instead.

    Windows sucks
