    Hello,

I got the same problem with a new battery on a HP Notebook. The battery was not originally manufactured by HP, so I think this could be the reason. Anyway - the new installed battery is fully loaded and working.

    Best

I think this happens when the internal battery is totally drained or is  not functioning or not present. I have replaced my battery and my problem is resolved.

hi there, i really don't know. even if i attached my battery the display still has an x.

i tried steps like turning off the laptop and detached the battery. and press the power button for 30-60 secs. and then boot the laptop again. uninstall the driver, update the driver again but the message says i have the best driver for my battery. the x has disappeared when i tried to attached the battery while it is running. and it change the message to 0% available plugged in. but there still the orange blinking light.

@Coleman0708 the original post is about 255% showing when a battery is not inserted. Try removing it and you will see that the "255% available" will (most likely) appear.
