    This Windows 10 S Mode Windows Update error issue is resolved with the latest rounds of Windows Updates (as of 2/14/19).  

    On my Surface Go in 10 S Mode, I've received the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 - (KB890830) -Error 0x800711c7 since December 2019, and as of yesterday, after running the latest Windows Updates and rebooting, the error disappeared and the green check finally appeared.  (I'm on version 1909 and have run all updates including the cumulative ones for 1909).

    If you are running Windows 10 in s-mode, then you do not need this update:

    Win10-S mode is not supported, there is no added value of running MSRT on this platform. Any install failures of attempting to install the package can be safely ignored.
