I have been getting this message since the 3rd.  I have tried the sync troubleshooting steps but they have not worked.

I was finally able to fix this by going into the Shared experience settings in Windows 10

Click the start button and type Shared experiences and then open the setting. Toggle the On switch and see if that works. Even if the on switch is already on, toggle it off and then back on again and see if that fixes it. One thing to note is that you should probably only have My devices only in the dropdown menu.

In the end paid ms support resolved the issue for me.

The solution was to reinstall windows!

    Cheers.

I reinstalled Windows 10 Pro. No change/difference. Error 52 still occurs when trying to connect to phone screen..

Found something that may block connections for others. I had Hyper-V activated (installed) and later removed the feature. It left behind a bridge and some virtual adapters. Deleting them allowed me to finally connect.

    Hope this helps someone.

Dang that sucks. I need Hyper-V for Bluestacks... I also have a Teamviewer virtual adapter. That's a bummer really if this is the reason why I can't connect to my phone screen (mirroring).

Exact same problem here. I tried everything mentioned above. I'm now in the process of reinstalling all my Surface Book 2 drivers. If that helps, I'll post to this thread.
