Hi Penny,

I am totally computer illiterate but am  grateful for the many responses many intelligent people have posted.  From them I conclude that at one time Microsoft was selling ebooks  but they are no  longer doing so.  When you turn on your computer, there is an outside app or  program that is asking to connect your computer to that site.  Since the site is no longer active or certified  up to date, Bitdefender blocks it.  No one has been able to identify the outside app or program but it apparently is not Microsoft itself; most people say it is harmless.

Try to update Microsoft Edge to the new Chromium-based Edge. Go to the Microsoft Web site and search for it ....... download and install it . It's easy and you should not get this annoying problem any more. Many people have been helped by this. A fellow user had posted on this very forum the following........

Probably resolved now. Microsoft have a new Edge browser released on the 16th. It is Chromium Edge and can download from here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge. Since I installed on 16th no more issue with markets.book.microsoft. So far. luck!

Following advice I installed edge chromium and have not had anymore problems with this message from Bitdefender.

My compputer gives me the following message from Bit Defender which is my security app.  I have looked at your responses to others with the same problem, but it means nothing to me.  Please tell me what is going on.

Microsoft Edge   exe attempted to establish a connection relying on an unmatching security certificate to market.books.microsoft.com.  The used certificate was used for a different web address than the targeted one.

I also receive messages saying certificate has expired.

When will this be sorted out?  More to the point, why is my PC trying to access that website? What does it do? I can't access it to find out.

Incidentally, I don't use Edge.  I use Firefox.
