BUG in feature update to windows 10 version 1909 via enablement package (KB4517245)

Person Me and all other posters:

As I said earlier I reverted back to an earlier update after having the search problem. I currently have Windows 10 Pro Ver: 1809 OS Build 17763.864 Not really sure what the KB number is.

Today I received a notice for updates as follows:

2019-12 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.7.2 and 4.8 for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64 (4533094)

Status: Pending restart

2019-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1809 for x64-based Systems (KB4530715)

Status: Pending restart

I thought I had turned off auto updates but evidently not, since at the top of the notice is says "Your Device will restart outside of active hours.

My question to all: Is this the fix for search problem or something else? Has anyone else completed this update to 2019-12? If so does it fix the search issue? Thanks for any and all responses.

Hello, as I've said before.

In order to have Windows with the most updated version that allows you to use the right click on the search bar (1903 - 18362.535) you must do the following:

1 - Install EVERYTHING, including the 1909 version and all its updates.

2 - Go to the windows program uninstaller.

3 - (On the left side) Select to view installed updates, the window will become uninstall an update.

4 - Select and uninstall the following update: feature update to windows 10 version 1909 via enablement package (KB4517245) (Uninstall only this update)

Note: I've installed the 18363.535 (1909) and the right click is still disabled, the latest version with the right click in the search box avaliable is the 18362.535 (1903). I'm starting to think this wasn't a bug, but an elemination of an extremely useful feature...

I really hope that Microsoft implement again the functionality that was removed, not having it makes my job a lot harder.

Apparently Microsoft is doing the same thing it did when it removed the Windows 8 start button, eleminating Windows features that users need...

Do not revert to the previous version that way.

Do it this way:

1 - Install everything, including the 1909 version and all its updates.

Important notes:

1 - I'm not using version 1909 so the name of the update to uninstall may be slightly different...

2 - English is not my first language, so the tips I'm giving you may have slightly different names on your windows, since my windows is not in English...

This is the first time I've seen this 'fix'...didn't work here as the instructions could not be followed. Step 1: done., Step 2: done., Step3 no clue as I hit every item listed and nothing show your 'view installed updates'. Choose on the left  or right-hand side....nothing updates I could find..

The ref is to the old Control Panel and select Programs and Features and then View installed updates.

from there you can remove the KB 1909 enablement package.

There has been a Dec 2019 Cumulative update that another user on another thread states fixes 1909 Search in File Explorer, but not in other search boxes. This would be fine but the update page for the KB update doesn't mention a fix for this update so it could be just a fluke.

This problem need to be reported (and upvoted) in the Feedback Hub for MS to produce a fix. Writing about it here won't help fix it.

i have the same problem with 1 computer that i migrated from win7 to win 10 1909.

Outlook 2019 or Excel 2019 keep crashing randomly...

i tried to uninstall KB4517245 but it doesn't let me doing it...i even tried from powershell as admin, but it says that this update can't be uninstalled...

I did the reindex trick but it doesn't fix anything in my case.

what can i do now ?
