File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909

Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring". 

Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.

    Folks,

    After following this for a while and seeing no solution I have done the following.

    Uninstalled the 1909 update, restarted and I am back to everything working as it was with 1903.

    I have also delayed the updates for a few months to see if a solution is found.

    I had the problem and a reboot fixed it for me.  Obviously, I've been lucky compared to other on this thread.  At least lucky thus far with 1909.

    Bertram Moshier, if you had the problem, a reboot is only fixing it for now. Don't expect it to stay fixed.

    Also having this issue since upgrading from v1809 to v1909, win10 pro x64. Going to roll back to v1809 now.

    It seems every damn version update to windows 10 includes ridiculous, widespread bugs.

    having the exactly same issue and still no fix from MS. and they don't even want to acknowledge this bug (notwithstanding so many users have already encountered it).
