I confirm windows file search problems on all computers in my office with windows 10 version 1909
I confirm also that the problem disappear after some restart of explorer.exe
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring".
Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.
Kind regards
Byron

LOL,
So, am I reading this right? MS managed to break explorer and didn't know it?
I just really noticed, I guess I don't use windows much anymore. Stuff like this is why.
How far they have fallen...
And can't keep their certs updated. smh.
Have you tried my suggestion from earlier in the thread? It's based on changing interface settings and I suspect many people with this problem may have the same problem I solved for my father, which was entirely based on search problems being a visual settings preventing access to the bar issue rather than an issue work the actual search.
In the words of Microsoft, all these updates go through ‘thorough’ testing prior to release. Also, I understand, they are pre-released to millions of ‘insiders’ who report on issues etc. So how has this slipped through the net? Previously, there was a reported issue with Cortana search (coincidence with this Search again), where, apparently the ‘insiders’ reported it would break the search function, Microsoft stuck two fingers up and still released it. Surprise, surprise – millions of users could not use Cortana so what is the point of ‘testing’?
