File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909

Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring".

Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.

Kind regards

Byron

looks like you should locate your original question or answer and click there on the (...) sign. Unfortunately it is difficult to find the original post as there are so many of them

Hey Byron - hope your 3rd party solution is working out. If not - anyone still battling this "demon" LOL (like me) ...try this freeware called "Everything" (no ads, no spy, no bloat...). Unbelievable and blows anything Microsoft ever wrote away (Sorry MS, no offense).

I don't even BLINK at MS search tools any more - who needs the aggravation. Even if Windows WORKED I'd never go back LOL ...this thing revolutionized the way I use my PC.

Hope this helps someone (and if it does, consider a donation to the dev, the guy's a freakin' genius!) ...Happy searching!
