File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909

Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring".

Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.

Kind regards

Byron

Just visited the Feedback Hub > My issues, found the following (see attached image below):

We've just done a fix with the build 19013.

But current version is 18363.535, so I cannot understand when will that build (19013) become publicly available...

    They probably meant "version" 19013.

Today's Version is 1909 (OS Build 18363,535), so the fix will be in Version 19013 (OS build xxxxx.xxx)

(Where xxxxx.xxx is some new build number).

    Chris

This was posted on the sysadmin subreddit yesterday and it worked for a workmate that was having the issue after upgrading to 1909.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4520146/fix-problems-in-windows-search

They specifically ran the PowerShell script in the Reset Windows Search section.

Hopefully it works for you all as well.

    Ok, wrong assumption.

However Backup & Sync somehow interacts with File Explorer, since it detects changes to files and folders for synchronization, so I thought that the new Windows update had created some compatibility problems ...but clearly I was wrong.

A suspicion arises: how many of those who are having this bug are using Google Backup and Sync?

Search issue is NOT related. Google tools have nothing to do with it. Bug has been caused by Win10 updates.
