File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909

Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring".

Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.

Kind regards

Byron

I'm amazed how bad they can be at this. Are they not using files? Because... if you use files, you know what you need a search. It's incredible that it's been this bad for the entirety of the Windows 10 release

I have the Insider build installed at 2004 19033.1 and File Explorer search is no different to the current 1909 public release. There is no right click for Paste.

Unless there is a report in the Feedback Hub for the problems or detailed I doubt things will change. Commenting here doesn't give the feedback to the MS developers.

Maybe the mistake is so deep in OS a therefore the fix would be too big to release as a hotfix, just guessing...

Or you can become a member of insider program and get the build 19013 earlier than on May 2020. But this program means you become a "Microsoft's tester".

I wonder why couldn't they just publish a hotfix? To get such a huge flaw in one of the major features during half a year is nonsense!

The "version" 19013 isn't the Windows version like 1909, it is the build number (19013.xxx)

    Please see this blog: https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2019/10/29/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-19013/

I'm afraid that the search fix will arrive in Windows version 2004 during the May 2020.
