File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909

Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring".

Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.

Kind regards

Byron

I'm aware that the first update is referred to as 20H1 but the Insider Preview still shows it as version 2004. 1909 was referred to as 19H2 but is still shown as version 1909.

    Hi,

Am experiencing the same issue with upgrades from various version of 10 and new deployments. Have noticed and replicate easily, that if logging on with a local computer account the search bar with (right click) works as expected. Its only when logging on with a domain account the search bar stops being able to right click.

If anyone from MS has any troubleshooting steps that could identify the issue?

Currently disabling GP's to see if any of them are causing the issue. will update if i find anything.

Just what I've found, wonder if its the same for anyone maybe?

I thought there will be no W10 2003 (or 2004) to avoid confusion with Windows 2003. It would become Windows 10 20H1 and 20H2.

They may not consider it an issue. Report it to the Feedback Hub for consideration by the development team. You can post a link to the feedback here and others can add comments and upvote in the Feedback Hub.

I've never seen an issue with pasting in search as I've always typed in, that still works for me without a problem on 1909. If I should want to paste I would use ctrl+v.

Other users here cannot change how Microsoft have developed the search function in File Explorer as we are all users like yourself and not MS employees.

My issue should be solved as described here in blog post:

    • We fixed an issue where you could get into a state where it wasn’t possible to set focus to File Explorer’s search box in order to type your query.

I can't see any mention about fixing the Paste issue.
