File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909

I use a small JAVA app called SearchMonkey. It’s a very pretty app, but does find everything I need when I need it. There is also i Windows native version available if you don’t like Java. Hope it helps in the meantime.

Where did you get a third party app?  the 1909 search function is completely useless.  I cannot search for files under date modified for today, yesterday, this week, last week or last year.  Comes back as none.  Any help?

I'll gladly use another app if that is the only choice.  Microsoft must have made some programming error in the new software.  I can see the button and "do the search" but all results are "none found".  I need to back up changed files on another PC for my work.  I have always been able to keep it up to date until the update I agreed to download last week.

Until I find a way to search, I will use my old laptop and not my new pc as my company pc so that I can move files.  I have to keep this pc for government files for which I have keys that only work on this pc.  Other than that, the inability to search makes this a door stop.  So any app that can make this pc functional would be appreciated.

You can roll back to 1903. Use instructions found with the following search for that.

Note that Windows will then start to remind you that you can update to 1909. Sometimes those constant reminders are a pain, so you can search for a way to turn Windows Update off. (You just have to remember to turn it back on later.)

Or you can stay with 1909 and use the "Restart Windows Explorer" work-around when it stops working. When you find it not working, try the following:

a) Right-click on the Taskbar and select Task Manager 

b) Select Windows Explorer in the Apps section

c) Press the Restart button at the bottom right of the Task Manager

This will close all Windows Explorer instances so you will have to start another (Windows Key + E), then re-navigate to where you were, but search will work for awhile before stopping again.

First o f all I have restarted my PC.

Then I have clicked at the search simbol at the taskbar and used the window that opens

After have used it, writting the string to search and selecting "Search in File Explorer" option: result=BINGO!

Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring". 

Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.

I have the same problem since the last Windows 10, version 1909 update.  You would think that Microsoft would have fixed this by now????!!
