File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909

Regarding your 'losing data' comments: this thread is about file search capability in Windows File Explorer. If you're losing data, this particular feature would be of no help to you in that regard. Perhaps you can be more specific regarding what you mean by losing data.

I was not threatining to change OS systems. I was simply mentioning that I was seriously thinking about changing the OS system because my data keeps getting deleted and I cannot do a search to find it. I do not know how you took that as a threat. That was just a simple statement of what an option I might have to take because I can not afford to keep loosing data and it has been happening since the 1803 update and there has been no help. I also stated that I loved Windows and have been using it for over 52 years so I do not see a threat in there. People are too negative.  I would really love it if Microsoft would just help me and others that are loosing data and not able to search for it but they are not answering and I do not even know how to call them like so many people are stating they are doing.

That's one person's reply after that one person supposedly talked to one MS support person, who apparently said "not repro here". Sorry, I know for a fact that MS is aware of this issue, so that report you're talking about is something I immediately dismissed. Low-level support techs will sometimes give disinformation (without their organization knowing). 

When you compare that to the now multiple reports that the issue HAS been recognized and even fixed by MS (albeit not coming until the spring update), I can tell you which I'm hanging my hat on (the latter).

The work-around (killing/re-starting File Manager) is a PITA, but it means that this isn't a show stopper (total productivity killer). It just slows us down.

It's also TOTALLY annoying that they're just not RUSHING out a fix for us, but that's not how the MS Windows business model works these days (unlike older versions of the OS). Security updates (this not being one of those) happen more often in patches.

The quarterly updates (such as this) are something that we have to wait for because they have to test it with a whole lot of configurations, in conjunction with an ENTIRE WORLD of invested partners (all the hardware, all the drivers, all of the app suites, all of the government and large corporate contracts, etc.). 

Go ahead and change to another OS. I'm peeved about this issue, but I'm sticking around. This is just an annoying search bug in File Explorer with a fix on its way.

All I know is I have many problems since the last two updates and I really am think of switching away from Windows for the first time in over 52 years.  It is sad but I have used other OS systems and I loved Windows but I cannot have my files disapearring and not be able to search to locate them.   (that does not count the other things going on that no one responses to anymore)

When is it going to be fixed or preferably restored to its original state?

It's been mentioned earlier in this thread that it is fixed and will be released in the Spring update, which will be in May. Or you can join the insider program to install a beta version of that release now. Scroll up for details.

Thanks - just seems completely irresponsible (actually unbelievable)  to make people wait four months if the fix is already available. I used to use search a number of times every day until its functionality was removed. What planet are Microsoft on? BTW I've been a PC user since DOS and Windows 3.
