File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909

Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring". 

Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.

    1903 was perfect, why  we have upgrade to buggy 1909?????????????????????????????????

    I have the same problem with search, and other with ssds.. after upgrade from 1903 to 1909 always blue screen, i bought a samsung evo, and sometimes not seen in bios (problems with smbus drivers). My questins is.. why the fk microsoft came with n updates and upgrades and you can't stop its only if go network and select mettered connection, when the versions wich cames out are full of a lot **** bugs?

    Why do we have to wait 5 months with a critical operating system problema, when functionality is more important than appearance? Microsoft is trying to make a nice to look but not functional operating system. It is obvious that the search function is one of the most important in computing. They should pay more attention.

    It seems this has now been changed with the next update to version 2004 that will arrive in April or May.

    Hi. 

    Try deactivate Cortana via Registry. 

    It Works for me.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search]

    "AllowCortana"=dword:00000000

    If you don´t have "Windows Search" Create it with the DWORD(32 bits) "AllowCortana" (0 deactivate, 1, actívate).

    Warning, if you don´t know how, don´t try, please.
