File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909

Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring".

Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.

Kind regards

Byron

Actually, a word of warning.  I just read you cannot go back from a windows preview build, so make a backup of your OS before you do it, if you do it.

In case you are confused as I was to @neilpzz 2004 response (thank you) - which made me think Windows 2004 or something backwards, after a quick web search, I found that this. https://pureinfotech.com/windows-10-2003-20h1-2020-update-features/ which talks about

"Windows 10 version 2004, May 2020 Update, will be the ninth major refresh since the original release that Microsoft is planning to release sometime in spring 2020 with new features and improvements."

I have windows preview build running on my laptop for some time now.  I might actually switch my desktop production build to the preview build to solve the problem and later change it back.

Again, seems FAR away for such a critical issue.  I would have thought they could have least patched this issue in the meantime which feels to me as though it is something far simpler of a bug.

But thanks again for passing along this information.

    Short answer No.

This is a user forum and replies are from other users. I have already posted that Microsoft have changed the function of File Explorer Search for the forth coming version 2004 update.

Is there anyone from Microsoft who can answer us officially about this problem?

    Thanks

I'm sure everyone is saying the same thing but I'll chuck it in any way.  The search stops working after the PC has been on for some time.  I have to restart the  PC to use it again.  When it does work, I now have to press enter for it to search.  Previously, it used to start searching as you type.
