File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909

Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring". 

Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.

    Hi !

    I confirm windows file search problems on all 6 computers in my office. It takes some time to write search criteria in the search window - it does not respond. Search suggestion are shown in a narrow column - barely visible. A quick solution to the problem could be very much appreciated. 

    Hello! For that problem, the suggestions are too small problem, you can just resize the searchbox using the little space between the address bar and search box. ;D

    Hello! I've just found a solution for Search not working! But not sure if that'll work for you since it's connected with metro UI. That's why it also is much unresponsive.

    1-) Open command prompt window. It's important for you use it in user level.

    2-) Type these commands IN THE EXACT ORDER;

    taskkill -f -im sihost.exe

    taskkill -f -im SearchUI.exe

    3-) Now try opening an explorer window and searching something. It should work.

    EDIT: Disabling Windows search also disables Cortana and Explorer search in Windows 1909 since they all use SearchUI.exe but with different parameters. So, if you want to disable Windows search, keep these in eye.

    It does once you put something like datecreated:this year in the search box

    I'm pretty sure I've found a fix. I ran into this problem when installing a theme on Windows 10 and it hasn't happened since using this. https://mega.nz/#!5ptE0CxB!tAdYmz9b6478yrvr6DPfzKOeP0xThdG-bxs8jLcG79M Here's the download link. It's a .cmd file, and running it disabled the new search in Windows 10. There's also an included option to get it back. (Why would you want to though?)

Again the instructions are: Download the file from the mega link, run the disable new search bat file, and wallah it's done. Run the enable new search to get it back.
