File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909

Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring".

Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.

Kind regards

Byron

KB 4535996 just issued as an OPTION, numerous fixes, one relating to Search Box again (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4535996/windows-10-update-kb4535996). Another patch for a patch for a patch. Think I will leave this for a while.

InformatiqueLepage, apparently, this is not an area that Microsoft is listening to.

For greater impact, try using this method:

    1. Press the Windows key
    2. Type 'Feedback hub' and press enter
    3. Fill in all of the appropriate forms and give the details of your issue.

If you see existing posts on the issue, it may help to 'like' or press 'I too have this issue' or similar.

The irony of this post is that since Search is completely broken, this method does not work at all. What you're describing, Chris, is a function of the Search feature.

I have the same issue, but I first noticed it not when running file explorer stand alone, but when running SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) 18.4, when try to open an file with an SQL extension, I sometimes use the search box to find one with certain characters like "date" or "employee", so I can search for queries I have written in the past.  I was finding that I could not click into the file dialog search box and if I tried to click a second time, it would cause SSMS to abend (crash).  It was only afterwards that I noticed that stand alone file explorer was behaving the same way.
