Update KB4535996 was available for me this morning and it automatically installed even though it did not first show up as being ready to install. Usually both show install but it only showed one and then when I came back both were installing. It was not there when I first looked so I it has not been pulled.
File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909
Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring".
Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.
Kind regards
Byron

2020-02-29T08:46:05+00:00 I saw that and restarted, Start > Power > Restart and was back. Installed it and no problems so far. Search works better now than before, before it wouldn't search from This PC and now it does.
I have to say it has never really caused me a problem.

2020-02-29T08:18:35+00:00 Further to yesterday's post. On 1st boot yesterday, 2 updates available, KB4537572 (net.framework) & KB4535996, latter as 'OPTIONAL'. Installed KB4537572 OK & left KB4535996 uninstalled. This morning, on boot, Auto WUD ran as normal, KB4535996 has disappeared as an option - does this mean its been pulled within 24 hours - previous last 2 comments perhaps bear this out why. Can't Microsoft get anything to work properly?

2020-02-28T18:07:52+00:00 All I know is nothing I have tried has worked except using a third party program at least it works but it a hassle. There is so many problems with Windows 10 now and it is hard to learn or keep up with for the average person.

2020-02-28T17:33:33+00:00 KB 4535996 just issued as an OPTION, numerous fixes, one relating to Search Box again (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4535996/windows-10-update-kb4535996). Another patch for a patch for a patch. Think I will leave this for a while.
This patch doesn't work either!
Just take a look: if there's external display connected with pixel density different from main one, you'll keep seeing the white space bug...
