I think this is a good idea.
Windows have not been bothered to fix this persisting issue.
Changing the OS is a last resort option that you are willing to take, i respect that.

Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring".
Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.

Not being rude, honestly
You may use an alternative program from a 3rd party.
I use Explorer++, you can google the web and find
more alternatives.
Let's move to MAC instead of Windows if they are so incompetent to do a simple job!
