File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909

Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring". 

Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.

    When is it going to be fixed or preferably restored to its original state?

    It's been mentioned earlier in this thread that it is fixed and will be released in the Spring update, which will be in May. Or you can join the insider program to install a beta version of that release now. Scroll up for details.

    Thanks - just seems completely irresponsible (actually unbelievable)  to make people wait four months if the fix is already available. I used to use search a number of times every day until its functionality was removed. What planet are Microsoft on? BTW I've been a PC user since DOS and Windows 3.

    This is a pretty fundamental bug. I have uninstalled and reinstalled  version 1909 twice in the vain hope Microsoft would have fixed it. Search must be one of the most commonly used functions? When is it going to be fixed or preferably restored to its original state?

    I am already experiencing trouble with Windows 10 1909 deleting my data and signing me in without me having to enter a password, pin or Facerecognition.  I have lost to much data to take a chance on the beta Windows that says what could happen over just not being able to search and loosing some files and sign in troubles to take bigger chances.  Thank you for that suggestion.
