File Explorer search not working in Windows 10 1909

Ever since I updated to Windows 10 1909 the Search Box in the File Explorer is completely unuseable. It shows a text cursor but I cannot click inside the box or type any text into it. Essentially it's a text box with no "wiring". 

Any ideas how to resolve this issue? I'm having to resort to using a third-party search app just to find files in my projects.

    Hi.

    I change the following Registry values

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search]

    "CortanaConsent"=dword:00000001

    from 1 to 0 and back again to 1.

    And I insert the key "BingSearchEnabled"=dword:00000000

    The search bar now is working normally.

    My windows is Windows 10 Pro 1909.

    Thx it worked

    I tried every other suggestions but no one did

    Last MS update did not change anything too

    Gave it a shot - no change here. Odd thing is my Windows Start menu search works, but when I go to "Search in File Explorer", I get the attached error and dialog...

    Also - my File Explorer search just gives me a limited drop-down of potential matches when I search directly from there - no results in the primary window like before 1909; AND my Outlook email search stopped functioning at the same time. Anyone else with these symptoms? There seems to be more than than one way this bug can hit you...WHAT A ******* MESS!!!

    Yes, the entire System is replaced by a new one and it's working as we need.

    Hello! I've just found a solution for Search not working! But not sure if that'll work for you since it's connected with metro UI. That's why it also is much unresponsive.

    1-) Open command prompt window. It's important for you use it in user level.

    2-) Type these commands IN THE EXACT ORDER;

    taskkill -f -im sihost.exe

    taskkill -f -im SearchUI.exe

    3-) Now try opening an explorer window and searching something. It should work.

    EDIT: Disabling Windows search also disables Cortana and Explorer search in Windows 1909 since they all use SearchUI.exe but with different parameters. So, if you want to disable Windows search, keep these in eye.
