Synaptics software accidentally deleted

Following some problems with a 3 year old Acer Cloudbook I had a PC shop re install a fresh Windows 10 and delete the original version. I had previously done something to change the touchpad settings and had resolved it by installing updated drivers. I think I might have moved the drivers to a flash drive and then deleted them by accident.

The new install doesn't allow the touchpad to work properly. I have no touchpad according to device manager merely a mouse. However, I am  physically using the touchpad to navigate but it will not scroll or pinch to zoom etc. It will move the pointer and nothing else. The touchpad is therefore in existence somewhere on the laptop but the device manager doesn't have any details of it. Settings does but only allows me to change the delay time. Nothing else. It seems I have completely deleted the software.

I have tried updating the drivers for touchpad via Acer website but when competed the drives download but I get a windows error message saying this device doesn't work on my laptop. Any ides of how I can recover the driver software would be greatly appreciated.

    I've sorted out the boot sequence etc and re configured it to start from the flash drive which is currently having 64 bit windows installed on it One question I have re this: Once completed can I move the windows 10 program liles etc back onto the C drive of my laptop having deleted older versions of windows etc and change it back to start up normally without the flash drive? Or will I always have to use the flash drive? It's a 16GB flash drive with about 14 GB space on it and I'm thinking of when Windows continually does updates would it run out of space?

    Usually the F keys have two functions one where you just click the key (volume, brightness etc) & another where you press the Fn key + F key, on start up this may be different.

    I’ll recheck.

    f2 is the brightness key on this I have an Fn function button though I'll figure it out Thanks

    Often there’s a F key which you need to press just as the Manufacturer’s logo appears, I believe it’s F2, then you use the down arrow on the keyboard to select the USB & click enter.
