Following some problems with a 3 year old Acer Cloudbook I had a PC shop re install a fresh Windows 10 and delete the original version. I had previously done something to change the touchpad settings and had resolved it by installing updated drivers. I think I might have moved the drivers to a flash drive and then deleted them by accident.
The new install doesn't allow the touchpad to work properly. I have no touchpad according to device manager merely a mouse. However, I am physically using the touchpad to navigate but it will not scroll or pinch to zoom etc. It will move the pointer and nothing else. The touchpad is therefore in existence somewhere on the laptop but the device manager doesn't have any details of it. Settings does but only allows me to change the delay time. Nothing else. It seems I have completely deleted the software.
I have tried updating the drivers for touchpad via Acer website but when competed the drives download but I get a windows error message saying this device doesn't work on my laptop. Any ides of how I can recover the driver software would be greatly appreciated.

If you install via windows update then this will still be 32bit.
You should clean install Windows by downloading the media creation tool & choosing to create media for another device, then boot from this & it will reinstall Windows, choose to delete all partitions if you want a clean install & then it should offer either 32bit or 64bit Windows.

ok I'm going to attempt a fresh start of windows now That's the way to install new version isn't it? From windows update? I think that's what I did before. I'm just baking the files up to a flash drive first
That’s fine, I was worried that the shop may have installed a volume license; as you say you installed windows recently then the install would’ve corrected that.
It should do this automatically if you clean install Windows but if it doesn’t then follow this tutorial to create installation media:

ok will do the last installs were done by myself so I'm probably responsible for the 32 bit system If I start a fresh install how do I choose whether to re install 32 or 64 bit system?
