Hi Leo,
Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.
We understand how difficult it could be when features do not work the way they should. We would need some more information regarding the issue.
- May I know the make and model of the computer?
- May I know what happens when you open the laptop after closing it and leaving it for a while?
In order to isolate the root cause of the issue, we recommend to unplug all the unnecessary external devices so that we can isolate and follow the steps mentioned below to restore the power plan settings and check.
- Go to Settings > Personalization.
- Click on Lock screen and click on Screen caver settings link.
- Select your preferred screensaver and Wait time.
- Check the box behind On resume, display logon screen.
- Click on Apply > OK.
- Then open Screen saver settings link again and click on Change power settings.
- Check the radio button behind Balanced (recommended).
- Then click on Change plan settings link across Balanced (recommend) followed by Change advanced power settings link.
- Then click on Restore plan defaults and click on Yes pop up dialog box.
- Click on Apply > OK.
- Then set Turn off display time in the control panel window (Note: Set the turn off display time longer than the Wait time for Screen saver).
We also suggest you to refer Update driver in Windows 10 and try updating display adapter driver.
Regards,
