Screensaver is not working after Windows update to 1903.

I have not had the screensaver working problems for a couple of years with Windows 10. Just occasionally it would work for a day or so after an upgrade and then stop.

I unplugged all the USB devices - Logitech camera, MS joystick and CH Pro pedals (for flight sim). This did not work, however I was running nVidia GeForce Experience and selected IN-GAME OVERLAY OFF and the screensaver and power saving started working again reliably.

Since then I have had to start using Edge rather than IE 11 as MS Teams required it. When Edge is running it prevents the screensaver working. A full reboot will reset the system and it works again. This problem does not occur with IE 11. It seem Edge is preventing screensaver or power saving working.

Thanks, I tried many other solutions and this one worked. It was my usb game controller attached to a hub that was causing the hangup.

Same. Screensaver has kicked in fine forever. Late last week for some reason, it just took it upon itself to stop. Tried  'On resume, display logon screen' but it did nothing. Sure enough, I unplugged my Xbox controller that I use on a daily basis, and it began working again. I'm sure when I plug it back in, it'll stop again.

Hi.  I had the same issue.  I did a clean install on my computer and needed to reinstall all the external programs after the full install with updates.  Before I wiped everything I put the screen saver programs on a USB drive.  Once I did that I copied my screen saver programs  back into the downloaded file.  I ran the programs again and most of them installed properly and run appropriately through the screen saver panel.  I have two separate laptops that talk to each other through syncing and network connections.  I suggest you copy the programs to the drive, download all the updates and then reinstall them again.   This bypasses the updates entirely and makes them usable again.  I no longer have any issues with them.

I have a very similar issue... was running 1903 update and everything was ok.. then updated to 2004 which completely broke all of my network drives.. then downgraded back top 1903 and now screen saver not working.. Microsoft.. please please please test your updates properly... I rely on Windows 10 for my business and I can not simply have it stop working because you have not done complete testing.

I have now have no idea how to fix the screen saver issue.. it just doesn't work period.. and NOTHING has been changed on my part.. except the upgrade to 2004 and then the downgrade to 1903 so clearly they two are related.

I have looked at all of the suggestions to date and none of them have resolved the issue.. screensaver simply doesn't kick in..

Happened with me too. Previously I went to Level 3 support and it turns out that the bug is due to to synching settings. with the latest 'upgrade' this was enabled and so my screensaver has gone. Even if you untick synch- too late! The only way to fix it, is to add a new local account; move across your files; reinstall all your apps; add in your MS account; etc. Grrrrrrr

Actually I had same problem. Every time when I tried to access screen saver settings I got the message ,,This screen saver has no option that you can set,, But i can select what screen saver I want and I put wait 5 min. In power options I select turn off monitor 20 min. After that after my screen turn off in five min screen saver work properly.
