Screensaver is not working after Windows update to 1903.

Same problem. Also Nvidia graphic card, up to date. Checking the "On resume, Display Logon Screen" option does not fix this. All had been working fine until 1903 update.

We understand how difficult it could be when features do not work the way they should.  We would need some more information regarding the issue.

1. May I know the make and model of the computer?
2. May I know what happens when you open the laptop after closing it and leaving it for a while?

In order to isolate the root cause of the issue, we recommend to unplug all the unnecessary external devices so that we can isolate and follow the steps mentioned below to restore the power plan settings and check.

1. Go to Settings > Personalization.
2. Click on Lock screen and click on Screen caver settings link.
3. Select your preferred screensaver and Wait time.
4. Check the box behind On resume, display logon screen.
5. Click on Apply > OK.
6. Then open Screen saver settings link again and click on Change power settings.
7. Check the radio button behind Balanced (recommended).
8. Then click on Change plan settings link across Balanced (recommend) followed by Change advanced power settings link.
9. Then click on Restore plan defaults and click on Yes pop up dialog box.
10. Click on Apply > OK.
11. Then set Turn off display time in the control panel window (Note: Set the turn off display time longer than the Wait time for Screen saver).

We also suggest you to refer Update driver in Windows 10 and try updating display adapter driver.

This does not work in all cases, because some games use Joystick ID's to bind controls in game.  This effected me specifically in several games.  When you unplug constantly in this way, your Joystick ID can change which then effects your games.

Microsoft Flight Simulator uses Controller names to bind functionality and as such is not effected by you unplugging your controller.

While yes it is a possible fix, it is just a bandaid that will cause problems later.

I have not had the screensaver working problems for a couple of years with Windows 10. Just occasionally it would work for a day or so after an upgrade and then stop.

I unplugged all the USB devices - Logitech camera, MS joystick and CH Pro pedals (for flight sim). This did not work, however I was running nVidia GeForce Experience and selected IN-GAME OVERLAY OFF and the screensaver and power saving started working again reliably.

Since then I have had to start using Edge rather than IE 11 as MS Teams required it. When Edge is running it prevents the screensaver working. A full reboot will reset the system and it works again. This problem does not occur with IE 11. It seem Edge is preventing screensaver or power saving working.

Thanks, I tried many other solutions and this one worked. It was my usb game controller attached to a hub that was causing the hangup.

Same. Screensaver has kicked in fine forever. Late last week for some reason, it just took it upon itself to stop. Tried  'On resume, display logon screen' but it did nothing. Sure enough, I unplugged my Xbox controller that I use on a daily basis, and it began working again. I'm sure when I plug it back in, it'll stop again.

perhaps using this lokal Link might be a little workaround for now.

I put it on my desktop, and when I leave for a while, I activate it.

C:\Windows\System32\Mystify.scr

I will give this thing with the USB Flightstick a try, but I think, I had this problem before.
