Issues with 5.1 Surround Sound with Windows 10

I can not get 5.1 Surround Sound to play for my computer with any audio player; i.e. DVD/CD optical drive, Pandora, etc. but when I run an audio test using the device manager it tests perfectly.  I have heard that there might be a compatibility issue with 5.1/7.1 Surround Sound and Windows 10.

Please let me know if anybody has had this problem and what the solution is.

    With earlier drivers, the Audio Control Panel was included where the surround sound could be activated and Sterio became a sound that fitted perfectly with a 5.1 system. This is currently a problem with MS and Realtek. Audio Control Panel is no longer included in the driver. For playback I use a codec package with audio rendering, which helps. Then I can distribute stereo to all speakers.

    That's not a windows problem, that's add on software. The Sound Blaster line used to include utilities like that. I've never seen it in a base Windows install (and I've owned every version of Windows), until Win10 and WIndows Sonic, but I don't think that's what you meant.

    Properly speaking, this isn't a CODEC issue; that just encodes an audio stream. You want an audio rendering program.

    Maybe Windows Sonic would work for you?

    I haven't tried that. (Sound but only for the headset.)

    (But this is my old Windows 7 system)

    It would be a great function if windows would know that automatically, if a stereo signal coming from one API could automatically mix to the other speaker.

    (Apparently, there is no sensible solution.)

    Actually I don't want to advertise products, but since it is an OpenSource project, I share the Mit K-Lite Codec Package with you. This is a collection of different codecs. Also included is the ffdshow audio/video processor or LAV Audio/Video decoder. If I were you I would deal with it before. (Maybe the suggestion of MS is better, Windows Sonic.) But I also want to say. That not all audio sources are affected. Only those that also access the filter.

    Mate the problem will not be fixed by buying a new speaker system or installing new and up to date drivers.  The problem is with windows 10 compatibility issues.

    Seems Windows 10 is struggling with sound and voice job. Past versions windows explorer made a crash when I wanted to use a bluetooth mic and I could never had a mic, now discovered this... Funny is as you see in the pic, my Home Cinema perfectly passes dolby and DTS tests here, but Realtek tests, musics, games or movies can not make it sound. I can use the 3.5 mm jack to just makem all work as a stero and set the settings of the home theatre to simulate 5.1, but still not the thing we are spending money for. Waste. Windows do yo thang or if it's realtek makem do them thangs
