Issues with 5.1 Surround Sound with Windows 10

I can not get 5.1 Surround Sound to play for my computer with any audio player; i.e. DVD/CD optical drive, Pandora, etc. but when I run an audio test using the device manager it tests perfectly.  I have heard that there might be a compatibility issue with 5.1/7.1 Surround Sound and Windows 10.

Please let me know if anybody has had this problem and what the solution is.

Most of us complaining is from NOT EVEN BEING ABLE to INSTALL something like an ASUS 5.1 Sound card. No browsers here. We run the driver install process and at the end of it Windows 10 say's "good Job" on installing your new Stereo system. Then you go to test, the dialog box shows a 5 speaker layout, however, though the graphic shows 5 speakers emitting sound, only the left & right speaker makes a sound, no browser here. Oh, lets not forget the totally silly sound analyzer with the cartoon girl picture. What a totally useless piece of **** code I've ever seen. I could write a small book on Windows 10 and it's compound failures! In 7 years of Windows 7 I may have had 3 blue screens! What happened to the ghostly Windows 8 and all the wasted money on that Turkey!

Good point on Bill, your right. With regards to drivers? BS! We can send a lander to Mars and cannot figure out how to make a few speakers work?

Excellent solution! If I got of of the HABBIT of using dirty google, i can escape the clutches of "couldn't care less" Microsoft. We need a tidal wave of users to choose Linux!

I fixed all my windows bugs by switching to Arch linux.  "drops mic"!!!!  5.1 works and I didn't have to click the "I agree" button.

So let me get this straight:

Windows makes an O/S that many people on this thread says WILL play 5.1 sound from native apps.

You try and play sound from a web page, and you get 2 channel sound.

How is this the fault of windows and not the source that is only sending 2 channels?

What's your attitude about Jeff Bezos? He's the real villain here.

How can hardware drivers be "generic" if they have different DAC chips and interfaces in them?
