Issues with 5.1 Surround Sound with Windows 10

I can not get 5.1 Surround Sound to play for my computer with any audio player; i.e. DVD/CD optical drive, Pandora, etc. but when I run an audio test using the device manager it tests perfectly.  I have heard that there might be a compatibility issue with 5.1/7.1 Surround Sound and Windows 10.

Please let me know if anybody has had this problem and what the solution is.

    Except....I have never downloaded from Amazon....nor do I use Chrome.......hmmmm

    Again, I contacted Amazon, and they basically said "Yea, 2 channel only. Sorry Bro".

    So they advertise 5.1, but they are very specific for who they output too.

    Again, it also depends on the browser. I got full 5.1 from Internet Explorer, while Chrome would only do 2 channels, FOR THE SAME URL.

    This has nothing to do with Windows (although other problems might). It's Amazon not fixing something for over 7 years, and it's Google being Google.

    I realize I may not be the end all to knowledge on how all this works. I realize some or most things are streamed in 2 channel format.  I accept that. When something advertises 5.1 channel output I expect it. If I download a movie or some music I pay for....I expect it to play in 5.1.   It doesn't.  My test works fine. DVD's work fine. Music downloaded even in 5.1 format doesn't no matter the app I use to play it. These same items DID play in 5.1 with Windows 7.   The driver would also emulate 5.1 (you could click a box to do so)   I just wish Windows 10 would. It doesn't.  You would think they would get better....not worse with multi media

    I replied to two people with an exact, targeted response/solution for their problem, all you do is complain and spout vague, weasel words, refuse to discuss any of the points brought up, and I'm the one that's off base?

    Use Linux, or is it that Windows, however much you hate it, must be better? Think about that, or switch.
