i'm very sorry but I still don't understand. There is nothing out of the ordinary under Security. The only email listed is the one connected to my Microsoft account. What is Advapi and what is it supposed to logon to?

I noticed upon checking my Event Log Applications and my Reliability Monitor I have been getting this critical error about every 2 to 3 days now on my HP Omen i7 -16 GB Mem - Nvidia GEForce GTX 1070 on Win10 Home 64 bit and this did not start happening until I updated to v1903 on May 30^th^ . My build is 18362.239. Could someone please advise me as how to resolve this or MS deploy a fix for this. It appears I am not the only one getting these. I have reported this through the Feedback Hub. I have run all three DISMs, SFC, Malwarebytes, Norton and I turned on Windows Defender long enough for a quick scan and no problems seen. It appears this is a scheduled task that keeps failing instead of running to completion.

Given that you are 'Host free' - and that others who have done differing things are, too - I can only think that whatever took place on that fateful day when the update installed (probably not 1903 but something afterwards) has caused multiple problems that defy a single solution.
I'm still working on one for the two computers here!
Thanks for the info you provided - I've done all I can now with those settings and really thought I'd cracked it but, alas, I haven't. Although they could be contributors.
A few posts ago, I asked Camilla to look for a Security line in Event Viewer that matches the time of each of the Host errors - the Security Line is in two parts but it suggests a web-based logon (nothing sinister, just part of Windows).
I do have one of those that would try to logon and download email upon a W10 Logon - so it could be that. But every two days my wife and I get errors?! Why not each day?!
It's certainly interesting but very annoying. I shall keep reporting back. I hope that you'll stay 'Host free'. Like you, I switch off anything that looks remotely like spyware so I am in total agreement with you.

I had two errors this morning but they were both immediately after waking the laptop from sleep (within 30 seconds).
It seems to me that both you and I are left with a residual problem related to the power - and me being so confident that I'd finally cracked it, too :) :) :) !!!
The only other thing that crossed my mind was that, perhaps, there was a failed attempt at accessing the Internet in between signing on and the Desktop appearing.
I may close any open Apps I have for the next few days - just in case - but I don't hold out much hope that that's the solution.
Just wanted to check in with you my friend. I still have not received anymore host errors. I thought I would let you know that I do not run any screensavers and I have it disabled. I have my power set at 30 mins and 45 mins respectfully. The only time I use sleep is when I will be away like for an hour or two and any longer than that I use hibernate. I have Fast Start up turned off. I am including my power settings. I am not a gamer so I have removed all of XBOX except for Game Bar. I have removed the Your Phone App. I have turned off as much as I could with Cortana and everything else that MS uses to spy on it users. I have very few Apps that run in the background except for the ones I use. I have turned off all programs and Apps in Startup where the impact is none. I have no HP or MS bloatware as I uninstalled all those I could. If you have any questions just ask and I will try to give you an answer or a screen shot.

2019-07-25T16:46:01+00:00 It's not a Windows Logon - and there is certainly nothing suspicious in the record of the Logon. In mine, it's detailing a logon to a web service (actually, it may be my offline email client trying to check for mail) and the logon being rejected.
If you don't have an attempted logon at the same time as the Host error with Advapi as the Logon process then I have a different cause that needs sorting.
