Error code: 0x80073d13 (Xbox Game Pass PC Beta)

When installing certain games on the Xbox Game Pass PC Beta app I seem to be getting Error code: 0x80073d13, Games will download to about 4.5%-9% then come up with the error.

Trying to install Metro, Wolfenstein, We Happy Few, Imperator: Rome and probably others I have not yet tried will give me this error.

I really hope this is not similar to the Microsoft Store error that does not allow certain games/programs to be installed on other drives besides C: which I don't think it is cause Halo Wars 1 seems to be giving me a different error code that I think is the disk drive error but I am not sure but It would really suck to have a bunch of games you can't install and we can't decide on a game-by-game basis yet so say I had just enough space for Metro on my C: drive but not enough to include another game from my other drive I can't specify that (atleast I think) it would all have to be on the same drive.

Update: That seems to be what the error is, must be installed on your main C: drive, when I disconnect my external drive Xbox app will auto download Metro directly to my C: drive

    thanks all for your feddback on this subject, I personally only have one drive, ssd in C: and it still displays me this error code, seems I'm just not allowed to play

    With EaseUS Partition Master 14, I cleared the GPT partition table on my 3TB drive I was attempting to use, created a new 3TB NTFS volume (which took place during a reboot) and voila!  Games are downloading to it...even Halo Master Chief Collection.  I guess Windows didn't like the way it was formatted?

    This can't be how the "golden master" of XBLGP ends up working. I was lucky to have a drive that I could wipe and start fresh on.  Most people don't have that "write privilege." (too soon? #puns)

    I was having the same error. I fixed it by going to Disk Management from the Windows Start menu. Once there right click disk that you are trying to install on > from drop down menu click format > set File System as NTFS > check 'Perform a quick format' click OK. I hope this helps others. ***Warning reformatting will erase contents of drive so make sure to back up anything beforehand***

    Hi! I think that the main reason is just that you haven't much space on disk C. Try to install other games and see how it will work with each new one.

    Ohhh, I'm waiting for the release of Outlast 3 on PC or PS4, they say that it will also weigh a lot. I'm afraid that I will face the same problem.

    The issue here is your disk format. GamePass games don't have to be installed on your C: drive, but they do need the following:

    • NTFS formatted partition
    • 4096 byte allocation unit size

    Both of these requirements stem from the delta-update mechanism GamePass games use.  It relies on some low level features of NTFS to efficiently move data around on the drive during game updates. Changing the external disk to be NTFS / 4KB allocation size will allow you to move games there or set that disk as your default installation drive.
