How to fix Event ID 455 ESENT error in Windows 10 V1903?

I am getting  Event Error 'ESENT-455' multiple times since updating to Version 1903-Build18362.175.

Description: (copied from event error log)

"svchost (15692,R,98) TILEREPOSITORYS-1-5-18: Error -1023 (0xfffffc01) occurred while opening logfile

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\TileDataLayer\Database\EDB.log."

I found the thread at Web site, 'Known Issues for Windows 10 May 2019 Update version 1903'' addressing this specific problem, (https://www.tenforums.com/windows-10-news/133041-known-issues-windows-10-may-2019-update-version-1903-a-2.html#post1638963)

The found solution was," to go to Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\

Create the folder TileDataLayer then inside that folder create Database folder."

This issue was evidently a known problem and is created most likely when Cleaning up the old Version 1806, which I did after an initial few days of trial with Version 1903.

I cannot find file  "C: \Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\ when I run a search of "My PC', in Windows Explorer. Where am I supposed to look to find the file "Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local" , and how do I create new folders within that existing command (?)file,  and can this fix be explained more in terms a neophyte can understand, and will feel confident that I won't mess things up worse in trying to eliminate this recurring error?

Thanks

Andy Asmussen

I was having this same issue. Here's what I did to fix it (based upon some other replies in this thread):

Open a CMD shell as Administrator.

That started me off in c:\Windows\system32.

cd config\systemprofile\AppData\Local

mkdir TileDataLayer

cd TileDataLayer

mkdir Database

Since then I haven't seen the error message in the event viewer.

    This is your computer's site...

    https://www.asus.com/Laptops/ASUS-ZenBook-UX301LA/HelpDesk_Download/

    ASUS ZenBook UX301LA

Stuff has been happening regarding sleep mode in your BIOS. I think you should upgrade it. Then we must look at that problem device you've got too. There are two BIOS offerings for you (after clicking "show all") of the same version & date - but no explanation as to the difference...

One has two A's in its name, one has no A (nor even a name). But when I download the unnamed one, I see this .zip...

Right-click it, & select "Extract all" to get...

I'm confident, after that is installed, your BIOS will be "UX301LA.300 2019/06/25" -- "AS" is stripped off. So, take the "unnamed" one, it matches what you've got now - one "A". The other would give you two. I'll do a Google to see whether I can discover what that is about. I wish there were a readme somewhere.

Read through the following, & ask any further question...

    https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1040162

Update Notebook PC BIOS to ensure improved password security

    (1) Do you have a "Firmware" section in Device Manager (as in that article)?

If so, that method will make the decision for us as to which BIOS upgrade you should have.

    (2) Do you have WinFlash (ask Search)? If so, it can also make the decision.

    (3) Otherwise, you will need to do Method 2 -- Easy Flash...

    (a) Download UX301LAAS300.zip, unzip it, & copy UX301LAAS.300 to a USB drive.

         (That's the "unnamed" one.)

    (b) Enter BIOS Setup. One way is...

"START, Settings, Update & Security, Recovery, Restart Now (under Advanced Startup)"...

That reboots to the "Choose an Option" screen. Choose "Troubleshoot, Advanced Options, UEFI Firmware Settings", then click Restart to get to BIOS Setup.

    (c) In BIOS Setup, at the Advancedtab, you select Easy Flash (as in the article).

    (d) Finally, select UX301LAAS.300 on the USB drive, & answer yes to flash it.

(Try the arrow keys to move around & the Enter key to make a selection.)

The article is showing different screens depending on BIOS & what version of Easy Flash it's got - but the process is the same. Good luck. Post back results or any further question.

If you scroll down the older versions of BIOS that are available at your site, you will see stuff happened regarding sleep mode. Your current version had a fix for it, & the one right afterward also had a fix for it.

I don't see Intel(R) Dynamic Platform & Thermal Framework Driver at your computer's site. After upgrading the BIOS, go into Device Manager & try to update it in there. It might be listed under System Devices. Open that branch by double-clicking it, then open the Intel(R) Dynamic Platform Properties by double-clicking it. (I'm showing another driver as I don't have that one.)

    (a) At the Driver tab, first try Update Driver & have it search automatically.

    (b) If that fails to fix it, then try Uninstall Device & reboot to reinstall it.

    Good luck.
