How to fix Event ID 455 ESENT error in Windows 10 V1903?

I am getting  Event Error 'ESENT-455' multiple times since updating to Version 1903-Build18362.175.

Description: (copied from event error log)

"svchost (15692,R,98) TILEREPOSITORYS-1-5-18: Error -1023 (0xfffffc01) occurred while opening logfile

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\TileDataLayer\Database\EDB.log."

I found the thread at Web site, 'Known Issues for Windows 10 May 2019 Update version 1903'' addressing this specific problem, (https://www.tenforums.com/windows-10-news/133041-known-issues-windows-10-may-2019-update-version-1903-a-2.html#post1638963)

The found solution was," to go to Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\

Create the folder TileDataLayer then inside that folder create Database folder."

This issue was evidently a known problem and is created most likely when Cleaning up the old Version 1806, which I did after an initial few days of trial with Version 1903.

I cannot find file  "C: \Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\ when I run a search of "My PC', in Windows Explorer. Where am I supposed to look to find the file "Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local" , and how do I create new folders within that existing command (?)file,  and can this fix be explained more in terms a neophyte can understand, and will feel confident that I won't mess things up worse in trying to eliminate this recurring error?

Thanks

Andy Asmussen

I was having this same issue. Here's what I did to fix it (based upon some other replies in this thread):

Open a CMD shell as Administrator.

That started me off in c:\Windows\system32.

cd config\systemprofile\AppData\Local

mkdir TileDataLayer

cd TileDataLayer

mkdir Database

Since then I haven't seen the error message in the event viewer.

No, Event ID 455 errors don't cause "access denied" errors.

    (1) What application are you running that occasionally produces them?

    (2) Can you right-click the app, & select "run as administrator"?

    (3) If (2) works to stop the access denied errors, run it from a shortcut...

    (a) Right-click the app in File Explorer, point to "Send to",

         & select "Desktop (create shortcut)"

    (b) Right-click the shortcut on the Desktop, & select Properties.

    (c) At the Shortcut tab, click the Advanced button.

    (d) Put a checkmark into "Run as administrator".

Now when you run it using that shortcut, it will be an Administrator.

Mr. Asmussen stated his issue was not being able to find

    C: \Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\

So he could make the directory 'TileDataLayer/Database'. More than one reply answered the procedure to resolve his problem.

Someone else had an issue making the directory and got an 'Access Denied'.

Your answer has absolutely nothing to do with the question at hand or issues related to resolving the question.

Making a shortcut with administrative privilege has nothing to do with an 'Access Denied' error occuring when creating a directory that requires administrative privileges.

If it's me that has misinterpreted the question at hand, then I apologise. But, I've read the original question over again and subsequent issues associated with the resolve. I think I'm correct in saying the above reply, even though correct in procedure, does not belong here.

Who is Mr. Asmussen? MickOnesys posted...

"Could this error affect anything else - we are getting an 'Access Denied' in an application and this error is the only thing in event viewer around the same time the software crashed."

So - I interpret he is getting the 455 error & is wondering whether it is responsible for something else too. You know you have to click through a few "access denied's" to fix the 455. But those are the only access denied's a 455 is related to.

The app he is running has a separate problem. Maybe it needs to be run as Administrator. My second guess will be a Windows Defender setting. He may need to make an exception in the ransomware settings.
