I have a Nedis bluetooth dongle and use a Stealseries headset, would it work better with a higher quality bluetooth / wifi card directly plugged into my motherboard (as i intended to buy at first) ?

I have a bluetooth headset that does not allow me to use it as both a microphone and a headset.
I have determined that audio will play through the Bluetooth headset as long as the recording device is set to Conexant ISST Audio. If I set the recording device to BHS-530 Hands-Free then no sound will play through either BHS-530 Playback device.
I can get audio to play while the BHS-530 Handsfree is setup as the Recording device but not while it is actively listening. As an example my BHS-530 Stereo is selected for both my default audio and default communication device. I start playing a YouTube video and audio works with the Playback menu is up in the Sound dialog (first screenshot), as soon as I select the recording menu (second screenshot) the audio stops. If I switch the recording device back to Conexant ISST Audio the youtube video will continue to send sound regardless of which menu I am on.
What do I need to set so that I can use the headset for both audio and microphone (Microsoft Teams Calls)
The headset comes up as two separate devices once it connects to windows:
Playback Device
Type: Headset
Name: BHS-530 Hands-Free
and
Type: Headphones
Name: BHS-530 Stereo
Recording Device
Type: Headset
Name: BHS-530 Hands-Free
Type: Internal Microphone
Name: Conexant ISST Audio

There is no "sloppy implementation" in Windows.
Windows has the mandatory Bluetooth baseline implementation.
Other mobile device manufacturers paid extra money on optional higher quality Bluetooth audio codecs.
It is up to your laptop manufacturer to pay extra money to Intel (which makes the Bluetooth chip) and then Intel pays the appropriate licensing fee to the the appropriate patent holders to those optional higher quality Bluetooth audio codecs.
It is a money issue, so no feedback is ever going to solve your problem.
Is there a way to know what device supports these "higher quality Bluetooth audio codecs", or are we left with buying and being lucky? Or it will never work with Windows at all because of the "mandatory Bluetooth baseline implementation"? Is it a hardware or a software problem after all?
I paid extra money specifically on a Bluetooth motherboard and you're telling us (from what I understood) the fault is with the hardware manufacturers, so... That's bad.
Easier to just buy a wireless gaming headset --- which comes with their own 2.4 GHz wireless dongle. Or a corporate bluetooth headset that comes their own bluetooth dongle.
Baseline means your bluetooth device will work in a car, a handheld gps, a laptop... anywhere. It means the cheapest crappiest audio codecs so that it would work with thousands of bluetooth devices from thousands of hardware manufacturers.
If you buy a Bose bluetooth headset that you need to download the Bose app for the iPhone or the Android phone in order to use the extra fancy features and audio codecs --- then it is not "pure" bluetooth as you can't use those features in your car or your handheld gps or a pc or a mac.
Similarly, if you need to buy an iphone or a macbook just to enjoy seamless bluetooth AirPods, then it is not really bluetooth as you can't use them in your car or your handdheld gps or a pc.
Try to find Bluetooth transceivers that support Hands-Free Profile (HFP) 1.6 or above which supports higher bandwidth audio transmission. Jabra 370 Bluetooth module supports this as do some others; But note it is still mono when on a call and not stereo! Only solution I have found is to use a 2.4 ghz audio headsets, they support stereo with microphone support. This allows me to listen to CD quality background sound effects and music while on a conference call (playing D&D).
