Same problem as you, I bought an external mic to solve it (Razer Seiren Mini).
I couldn’t use my laptop mic because it isn’t in front of me when I’m at my desk.

I have a bluetooth headset that does not allow me to use it as both a microphone and a headset.
I have determined that audio will play through the Bluetooth headset as long as the recording device is set to Conexant ISST Audio. If I set the recording device to BHS-530 Hands-Free then no sound will play through either BHS-530 Playback device.
I can get audio to play while the BHS-530 Handsfree is setup as the Recording device but not while it is actively listening. As an example my BHS-530 Stereo is selected for both my default audio and default communication device. I start playing a YouTube video and audio works with the Playback menu is up in the Sound dialog (first screenshot), as soon as I select the recording menu (second screenshot) the audio stops. If I switch the recording device back to Conexant ISST Audio the youtube video will continue to send sound regardless of which menu I am on.
What do I need to set so that I can use the headset for both audio and microphone (Microsoft Teams Calls)
The headset comes up as two separate devices once it connects to windows:
Playback Device
Type: Headset
Name: BHS-530 Hands-Free
and
Type: Headphones
Name: BHS-530 Stereo
Recording Device
Type: Headset
Name: BHS-530 Hands-Free
Type: Internal Microphone
Name: Conexant ISST Audio
(this is my laptop's internal mic)

2021-02-08T17:06:04+00:00 Using a seperate usb mic was also my solution as well, with my bluetooth as stereo audio... I entertained the idea of using a second bluetooth device as the mic only and just wearing both devices, but thats kinda rediculous!!
do they make a bluetooth device that has two bluetooth antenna so headphones and mic are there own dedicated devices in windows?
my ultimate sokution unfortunately was to go with a headset that has its own dedicated dongle, but that still doesnt address the shortcoming of window’s handling of bluetooth!

2021-02-08T18:19:40+00:00 Try some BT5.0 dongle which is in Realtek chip / you will need to install Realtek driver (because it is not working on default Windows drivers).. and on Realtek driver (in my case with Mpow BH456A Bluetooth 5.0 USB Adapter) all is working for me (so I'm able to use together mic and get sound - and same headsets didn't work on BT4.1 with default BT Windows drivers). Teams and Zoom are working fine. Mice on headset BT4.1 also is working fine in that setup.

2021-02-08T19:52:47+00:00 Amazing that so many people have this problem and microsoft doesn't even acknowledge it. I've resorted to having Teams call my mobile phone and just connect my Bluetooth there.
