Bluetooth Headset cannot be used as both headphones and speakers

I have a bluetooth headset that does not allow me to use it as both a microphone and a headset.

I have determined that audio will play through the Bluetooth headset as long as the recording device is set to Conexant ISST Audio.  If I set the recording device to BHS-530 Hands-Free then no sound will play through either BHS-530 Playback device.

I can get audio to play while the BHS-530 Handsfree is setup as the Recording device but not while it is actively listening.  As an example my BHS-530 Stereo is selected for both my default audio and default communication device.  I start playing a YouTube video and audio works with the Playback menu is up in the Sound dialog (first screenshot), as soon as I select the recording menu (second screenshot) the audio stops.  If I switch the recording device back to Conexant ISST Audio the youtube video will continue to send sound regardless of which menu I am on.

What do I need to set so that I can use the headset for both audio and microphone (Microsoft Teams Calls)

The headset comes up as two separate devices once it connects to windows:

Playback Device

Type: Headset

Name: BHS-530 Hands-Free

and

Type: Headphones

Name: BHS-530 Stereo

Recording Device

Type: Headset

Name: BHS-530 Hands-Free

Type: Internal Microphone

Name: Conexant ISST Audio

(this is my laptop's internal mic)

I am facing the same issue on windows 10 laptops both office and work.

And this issue is exhibited ONLY in MS Teams. I am using MS teams on browser. Tried Microsoft edge, Chrome, firefox. They all show the same results.

Audio o/p on bluetooth headset and Mic input from Laptop mic.

the moment I select MIC input from Bluetooth headset both audio and mic stop working

Don't face any issues while talking call in Zoom, Google meet on windows via local app or via browser.

    Dear Carlos Gomez,

I think Everyone knows that this is not how Bluetooth works. Since I know very well that my Bluetooth is supposed to be fine and working as good as new. Also then answer me, why does Bluetooth work properly on android and not on something so advanced like windows 10?

Interesting same problems here with multiple headsets.

I have an MPOW 456A BT 5.0 adapter, MPOW I19 IPO that work perfectly in both Skype/Teams and Windows Audio.  I also have a TPLink BT 4.0 UB4A and that works perfectly but NOT for audio/mic at the same time.  So its not the adapters/drivers as such.

I really wanted the 65hrs upgrade of the MPOW-059 headphones which are touted as an upgrade to the I19, also looked at the Anker multipoint headphones on Amazon.  Neither worked in any shape or form, exact same problems as described here making them useless and it makes me wonder why they sell them as Skype/comms capable?

I have literally wasted a solid 8 hours trying different drivers, disabling/enabling, tweaking, I even managed to find some Windows 10 rated drivers for the Realtek 8761B chipset, which work really well and i think seem better than the MPOW ones which were last updated 2018.  But again no fix.  Windows is fully updated to 2004, all drivers are fully updated.

So in short the MPOW I19 IPO BT 5.0 work but the MPOW-059 BT 5.0 don't so very strange indeeed!  PS: I used the exact same BT dongle and drivers for both headsets?!

Maybe not at the same time (don't know but i suspect bandwidth is an issue for that) but my MPOW I19 headphones can switch between handsfree/windows audio and skype/teams very easily and work just fine.  Yet my MPOW 0-59 ones can not.  both are BT 5.0.  So it IS DEFINITELY possible and does 100% work in Windows but something is very different and wrong between those two headsets.  I commented further down with more details.  BTW they are using the same BT adapter, same PC and same drivers.
