I have a bluetooth headset that does not allow me to use it as both a microphone and a headset.
I have determined that audio will play through the Bluetooth headset as long as the recording device is set to Conexant ISST Audio. If I set the recording device to BHS-530 Hands-Free then no sound will play through either BHS-530 Playback device.
I can get audio to play while the BHS-530 Handsfree is setup as the Recording device but not while it is actively listening. As an example my BHS-530 Stereo is selected for both my default audio and default communication device. I start playing a YouTube video and audio works with the Playback menu is up in the Sound dialog (first screenshot), as soon as I select the recording menu (second screenshot) the audio stops. If I switch the recording device back to Conexant ISST Audio the youtube video will continue to send sound regardless of which menu I am on.
What do I need to set so that I can use the headset for both audio and microphone (Microsoft Teams Calls)
The headset comes up as two separate devices once it connects to windows:
Playback Device
Type: Headset
Name: BHS-530 Hands-Free
and
Type: Headphones
Name: BHS-530 Stereo
Recording Device
Type: Headset
Name: BHS-530 Hands-Free
Type: Internal Microphone
Name: Conexant ISST Audio
(this is my laptop's internal mic)

This worked for me...
Got my money back and purchased Jabra 75T which works perfectly, connects to both phone and laptop. Sometimes have to push the speaker button on my iphone to push it thru to head set.
Annoying that I have to pick a Microsoft Teams certified headset, but glad it works. Recommending them to everyone.

I really appreciate all of the help offered here.
I found a way to get the microphone to work along with the headphones, but it is definitely weird.
On my Windows 10 (1903) MSI laptop, I have a new Bluetooth MPOW HC5. I was going to return it after I read all of these posts, but I may give it another chance. Tonight I participated in an hour-long WebEx call without any issues.
Earlier, I deleted all the files and configs for my new headset. Then I paired it and ONLY installed the MPOW HC5 Hands-Free AG Audio and set the MPOW HC5 Stereo disconnected in the Playback Tab.
I found that the MPOW HC5 Stereo device driver DOES control the side buttons on the headset, so that Pause, Play, Volume up and down will work, but it doesn't recognize the microphone.
I also found that the MPOW HC5 Hands-Free AG Audio device driver DOES recognize the microphone, but ONLY after using the Speaker icon to slide the sound level to 100% and then back down to my comfort zone. At that point, none of the side buttons and the headset will work, BUT you can use the microphone.
If you want to use the "Listen" function in the Recording Tab to hear yourself in the headset speakers, it's awful. I gave that up.

Hi Zach, (not) Good to know you can't do it either, but I bet a solution is in the works! For now, I am going to look for a plug in mic that has a long cord.
Yes, I have the same problem or at least a very, very similar one. I cannot use the headset microphone when I am in a Zoom, Webex, or Teams call, and I have to use the internal microphone. It seems like nothing I do will fix it! I am REALLY hoping for a solution to this!!
