Bluetooth Headset cannot be used as both headphones and speakers

I have a bluetooth headset that does not allow me to use it as both a microphone and a headset.

I have determined that audio will play through the Bluetooth headset as long as the recording device is set to Conexant ISST Audio.  If I set the recording device to BHS-530 Hands-Free then no sound will play through either BHS-530 Playback device.

I can get audio to play while the BHS-530 Handsfree is setup as the Recording device but not while it is actively listening.  As an example my BHS-530 Stereo is selected for both my default audio and default communication device.  I start playing a YouTube video and audio works with the Playback menu is up in the Sound dialog (first screenshot), as soon as I select the recording menu (second screenshot) the audio stops.  If I switch the recording device back to Conexant ISST Audio the youtube video will continue to send sound regardless of which menu I am on.

What do I need to set so that I can use the headset for both audio and microphone (Microsoft Teams Calls)

The headset comes up as two separate devices once it connects to windows:

Playback Device

Type: Headset

Name: BHS-530 Hands-Free

and

Type: Headphones

Name: BHS-530 Stereo

Recording Device

Type: Headset

Name: BHS-530 Hands-Free

Type: Internal Microphone

Name: Conexant ISST Audio

(this is my laptop's internal mic)

    The difference between using the usb dongle and the pci slot on your motherboard won’t make as much of a difference as the type of Bluetooth chip is on the device. You mentioned the pci card is Bluetooth 4.2, which supports more bandwidth, but unfortunately neither of these will solve the primary issue which is that you can’t have high quality stereo playback while on a call using the microphone of your headset.

    Both of your solutions will be audible, and the 4.2 Bluetooth transceiver will probably sound a little better then the 4.0, but neither will sound as good as a straight stereo signal going to your headphones.

    Hi, I'm not hoping for a clear yes or no answer, but if anyone could tell me if I'm in the right direction ?

    I have a Steelseries arctis 3 bluethoot and a nedis bluetooth 4.0 dongle wich cause me all this.

    Easier to just buy a wireless gaming headset --- which comes with their own 2.4 GHz wireless dongle. Or a corporate bluetooth headset that comes their own bluetooth dongle.

    Baseline means your bluetooth device will work in a car, a handheld gps, a laptop... anywhere. It means the cheapest crappiest audio codecs so that it would work with thousands of bluetooth devices from thousands of hardware manufacturers.

    If you buy a Bose bluetooth headset that you need to download the Bose app for the iPhone or the Android phone in order to use the extra fancy features and audio codecs --- then it is not "pure" bluetooth as you can't use those features in your car or your handheld gps or a pc or a mac.

    Similarly, if you need to buy an iphone or a macbook just to enjoy seamless bluetooth AirPods, then it is not really bluetooth as you can't use them in your car or your handdheld gps or a pc.
