Bluetooth Headset cannot be used as both headphones and speakers

I'm having the same issue with a Logitech H800 headset (and lost the dongle unfortunately, so must use via Bluetooth).

Audio quality is fine while I'm not in any call, and Windows chooses the audio device "Headphones (H800 Logitech Headset Stereo)". When I enter any call it switches to "Headset (H800 Logitech Headset Hands-Free)" with terrible input/output audio quality.

When looking into the "Default format" per profile I see the following (which can't be change):

Headphones (H800 Logitech Headset Stereo): 2 channel, 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality)

Headset (H800 Logitech Headset Hands-Free): 1 channel, 16 bit, 8000 Hz (Telephone Quality)

I've tried several options from both this topic and suggestions from other sources. I can fix the audio quality during calls by disabling "handsfree mode", which results in the microphone not working. I have also seen some posts about this being a Bluetooth hardware/design limitation, but like said multiple times in this topic: Via Android Bluetooth the audio input/output quality is fine! This has been tested with two different laptops.

Please Microsoft, let us use our Bluetooth headsets in better quality than "Telepone Quality" as above. Or explain why this can't work within Windows.

I dont have anymore my MPOW but right now Im using Jabra Evolve2 65

which is working perfectly fine with USB Jabra Link Dongle - but when i connect it to my laptop via build in Bluetooth ( Intel Bluetooth 4.0 + HS-Adapter) - it has same behavior (no mic on teams).

I just order via aliexress MPOW 456A BT 5.0 which is not so expensive.. 10$ and will check if Jabra will work via this 5.0 dongle.

Sadly in my case it turns out that even though the MPOW 059 are labelled as 'UPGRADED' with 65hrs battery and BT 5.0 etc.etc. er they aren't.  They are BT 4.0 and from 2017,  first available for purchase 2017 on Amazon according to their site.

The H19 IPO are in fact first available 2020 and ARE BT 5.0 and do work perfectly well with Skype/Teams.

My query is resolved then.  I'm sending the 059's back as not fit for purpose they were sold for as I do not believe there will be a solution - outdated tech.

Tip; Check the date on the Amazon order product details to see when they were first available!

sorry stupid keyboard (not typist honest),  It is a H-19 IPO which IS BT 5.0.

The 059 were advertised on Amazon as BT 5.0. multiple places but according to reviewer spec sheets does appear to be BT 4.0 but is also supposed to be Multipoint according to a review (assuming their info is correct).

Tried a BT 4.0 dongle also, but to no avail.

In short:

MPOW H19 IPO working with both TPLINK BT4.0 and MPOW BT5.0 dongles.

MPOW 059 not working and yes they are BT 4.0.l

Also MPOW confirmed today that even though sellers list MPOW059 as ***UPGRADED*** they are in fact way older hence BT 4.0 - although should still work.

I am awaiting an email from MPOW to clarify what wireless headphones they provide that are bluetooth and GUARANTEED to work with Skype/Teams and my Phone.  I am not really holding my breath tbh!

This makes me wonder if the Multipoint headphones are in fact older technology not newer - that has been abandoned as it doesn't work well?  Certainly the Anker ones were cheap, as were the MPOW ones - perhaps that is why.  Purely speculative but based on facts i have dug up, such as the multipoint bluetooth drivers provided on both sites are WAAAY out of date - 2017?!

Also if you try to install the "offical" BT 3671B (think thats the rightno) Realtek drivers they complain the "device is not authorized".  Suggests that possibly these headsets are in fact using Realtek chips without license.. But again speculation, don't know if anyone else knows more?

I had no idea this was such a minefield until i simply wanted to connect a wireless headset to Skype/Teams??   It's laugable really.

Maybe not at the same time (don't know but i suspect bandwidth is an issue for that) but my MPOW I19 headphones can switch between handsfree/windows audio and skype/teams very easily and work just fine.  Yet my MPOW 0-59 ones can not.  both are BT 5.0.  So it IS DEFINITELY possible and does 100% work in Windows but something is very different and wrong between those two headsets.  I commented further down with more details.  BTW they are using the same BT adapter, same PC and same drivers.
