I can draw on a snip, but it is hard to write a note with a mouse.

Can I add a text box and  type a note on a snip?

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you want to add a text box to type a note on a snip using when using Snip & Sketch. However, I would like to inform that the feature to add a text box is currently not available.

I commend you for noticing this feature not being within Snip & Sketch. We would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions, as there may be other users with a similar requirement. Hence, I would suggest you to post a feedback in Microsoft Feedback Hub so that our developing team can review your suggestions and check if it can be included in the future updates.

Regards,

This question was posted in 2019. We are in 2023 and still no possibility to add a simple text into a snip. This is incredible.

Yes - please add a TEXT tool to the Windows Snip & Sketch app. It might also be a good idea to add SHAPES, STRAIGHT LINES, ARROWS too!

Come on Microsoft - this stuff is obviouis and it's easy to implement, right ?????

Just a reminder that Microsoft has shown no level of engagement around these posts or has interacted in ANY WAY on this request I made 4 years ago. Some of us believe Microsoft has abandoned this platform for the 'Feedback app' built into Windows.

ShareX is a nice option for Snips and adding text - but can be overwhelming to some. (and can be had for 'no cost')

Microsoft just recently added a video recording feature to the Snip tool in Windows 11 - so they are doing some 'snip tool development', but, either way, it is disappointing that we are not heard, regarding this SIMPLE request ... in either tool.

I too have wanted to be able to type text into snipped pictures, with both the old and new snipping tools. Oftentimes I would like to add text in a form similar to a ballooned leader. This would be a very useful addition. I will add though, that you CAN type text in if you open the snip in Paint. It's a little clunky, but it can be done.
