I can draw on a snip, but it is hard to write a note with a mouse.

Can I add a text box and  type a note on a snip?

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you want to add a text box to type a note on a snip using when using Snip & Sketch. However, I would like to inform that the feature to add a text box is currently not available.

I commend you for noticing this feature not being within Snip & Sketch. We would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions, as there may be other users with a similar requirement. Hence, I would suggest you to post a feedback in Microsoft Feedback Hub so that our developing team can review your suggestions and check if it can be included in the future updates.

Regards,

Nikhar Khare

Here's an idea: in MacOS sreenshots are opened by Preview, an app that does almost everything a officer use needs when it comes to viewing and basic editing of images and PDF, even adding a Signature!!! Buy a MAC, look at Preview, Copy it for Windows, Get rid of Snip & Sketch, Photos, and Paint.

So - nearly two years ongoing with how many 'updates and patches' to windows 10 and this is yet to be addressed. Stop giving us things we DON'T want and give us the things we are telling you that we ACTUALLY NEED.

This is yet another reason why I steer all of my clients to Linux and other open source solutions. At least those developers listen to their users!

Thank you for the recommendation, however a lot of users like me are not able to install new software due to the restrictions set by the corporate administrators. They will not allow the installation of additional software, and this is the case for many users.
