I have a few Windows 10 Pro x64 1903 (with 2019-05 or 06 cumulative update) having an issue where when you use the modern Settings app > Devices > Printers & Scanners, when you click on an existing printer, the printer below it does not drop down making space for the the "Open queue" and "Manage" buttons, instead the buttons overlay the lower printer, but won't allow you to click on the buttons, therefore you can't manage the printer.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern. Could you please let us know if you have noticed any other issue with Settings app?

We recommend you to follow the steps mentioned below to re-register Settings app and check.

    1. Search for PowerShell in the search bar.
    2. Right click on the same in the list and choose Run as administrator.
    3. Then copy and paste following command and press Enter.
    • Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name windows.immersivecontrolpanel | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}
    1. Then close PowerShell session and check for the issue.

    Regards,

    Dear Moderator,

may we ask what progress Microsoft is making to resolve this troublesome issue?

    TL;DR

    Standard Users can always Tab-To-Enter

This isn't a specific PC Workstation Problem, it comes and goes

In our environment (1903 x64 Pro) we have roaming profiles and I can report that a standard user (read not administrator), may be able to use the UI interface correctly on PC-A, then roam to PC-B and be unable to use the UI.  Tab-to-Enter will work for them regardless of which PC they are logged into, however none of my users are savvy enough to learn this (we always have to remote in and tab for them).  We've also seen them roam back to PC-A, and the UI now doesn't work, then roam to PC-C and it does again.  It's very hit or miss all over the place.  Each PC workstation in our environment is for all concerns identically configured and running the same software and versions of said software.

Checked a couple of different Win 10 PCs here - one is Win 10 Pro and the other is Win 10 Home - both are V. 1909:

    Using Standard User profiles:

Win 10 Pro has this "can't click/open the print queue" issue - the Win 10 Home has no issue and print queue clicks open. Weird!

Win 10 Pro with the print queue issue responds to Tab/Enter to open print queue.

    Edit:

Checked another Win 10 Pro V. 1909 here and it also has no issue in Standard User profiles - print queue clicks open. So this issue really is  hit and miss.

This thread is the closest I've come across that sounds like what I have started experiencing. Suddenly I cannot print. I have checked the default and is correct but anything in Word 10, or online will ONLY ask "save print output as" or "save as PDF"...will not let me print anything. Did an update cause this? This is maddening. And yes, my printer is set as the default, and not on "save".

    Thanks for any help!

Yes, this "save print output" window issue is a new one - popped up today on a Win 10 Pro PC in for repair.

Solution - uninstalled printer (HP 402dn) and reinstalled - > printed as normal.

Linux is looking better and better.. I hope MS keeps this up, it will be an easy sell to customers...

I raised Microsoft case 1490167415 over this issue, but trying to deal with Microsoft over this I found to be absolutely awful and incredibly useless.

If someone at Microsoft wants to review that ticket, that would be good.

At one point the level 2 technician even told me that the behaviour here where the user can't click on the option was intended behaviour.  I immediately asked to speak with his supervisor.  Seems madness to me because even though you can't click on it, you can tab to it.

A user without administrator rights should still be able to click to view their print queue!!

    I've given up trying.
