Hello,
There is no direct method to disable Top Apps (as of Version 2004), however you can try this workaround to skip Top Apps:
Right click on Taskbar and select Search > Hidden.
Now simply click on Start button or press Windows key and type your search query. This way you can skip Top Apps on the search fly-out you are seeing.
Hope this helps!

2020-01-16T21:19:33+00:00 Like all the others I have the same problem.
Top Apps shows products I have never used.
If MS wish to peddle irrelevant products down to my search then I just write a review about the offending product giving it one star and saying someone at MS must be getting $$ to force these "Apps" onto my seach box..

2019-12-29T04:56:01+00:00 This is not only invasive, I perceieve it as anti-trust violation, fraudulent and disrexpectful due to (a) the `recent' list is populated by products I do not use (b) all those products are Microsfot products.
This is blatant hijacking of my personal computer to undertake their marketing agenda.
Unfortunately, Microsoft just cannot desist from underhand tactics. Coming from a pre-pacman, commodore, atari generation I find this Orwellian and highly insulting.
My disdain for Microsoft grows and grows.

2019-11-14T14:22:34+00:00 Top Apps on Search Bar - Update
I have also done the latest Microsoft Updates from this week and nothing has changed. I still have the same FIVE Top Apps that were there when I reinstalled Windows 10 on my desktop PC a few months ago. They never change. I now just ignore them. Microsoft doesn't care and won't fix it.
